The Coiste Gnó shall collectively promote and support bilingualism across all aspects of AMLÉ’s work. Each officer on the Coiste Gnó shall make reasonable efforts to incorporate the Irish language into their remit, with guidance from the Leas Uachtarán don Ghaeilge where appropriate. While members of the Coiste Gnó are not required to be fluent in Irish, they should engage with the Leas Uachtarán don Ghaeilge to ensure bilingualism is considered in their work. The Leas Uachtarán don Ghaeilge shall provide support and guidance but will not bear sole responsibility for its implementation. All officers on the Coiste Gnó share a role in fostering a bilingual environment, ensuring AMLÉ’s work is inclusive and accessible to Irish-speaking students and officers.

USI/AMLÉ, as a union dedicated to the empowerment of students across Ireland, shall enshrine the principle of international solidarity. The Union firmly opposes all forms of apartheid, segregation, and state repression. USI/AMLÉ pledges to support students who are subjected to apartheid, segregation, and state repression advocating for equal access to education for all.
2025 CA7 One Student, One Vote

AMEND Article 4.1.5 to read;
4.1.5 The Annual Congress shall elect all members of the Executive Team excluding the USI-AMLÉ President and the NUS-USI President. Any ordinary member of the Union is entitled to contest any elected position at Congress. All registered delegates are entitled to vote in each election at Congress except in the case of the elections for the regional Vice Presidents. The electorate for the positions of Vice President for the Dublin region, Vice President for the Border, Midlands and Western Region and Vice President for the Southern Region shall be the registered delegates from Member Organisations located wholly or mainly in that Officer’s region, as defined by Schedule G and the relevant Vice President.
AND
ADD a new Article following Article 4.1.5 to read;
The USI-AMLÉ President shall be elected following a ballot of all ordinary members of USI under PR-STV. The procedure for the conduct of this election shall be outlined in Schedule D of this constitution.

The USI-AMLÉ President shall be elected via an electoral college with each Member Organisation as its own constituency.

The value of each Member Organisations’ electoral college vote shall be linked to their delegate entitlement at USI Congress.
The USI-AMLÉ Returning Officer shall allocate each Member Organisations’ electoral college votes to candidates proportional to their percentage share of the vote in each Member Organisation election.
The procedure for the conduct of this election shall be outlined in Schedule D of this constitution.

Electoral College votes shall be allocated by the USI Returning Officer to each candidate proportionate to their respective shares of the vote in each Electoral College.
Elections in both colleges shall be conducted under an alternative vote system.
The procedure for the conduct of this election shall be outlined in Schedule D of this constitution.

2025 CA11 Expanding the role of the Vice President for Postgraduate Affairs
Proposed by the Vice President for the Southern Region
From article 5 of the Constitution, replace:
5.12.1 The Vice President for Postgraduate Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the VP/Postgraduate) shall have responsibility, in a part-time capacity on the Union’s Executive Team, for the Union’s work on policy and engagement with postgraduate students.
5.12.2 The VP/Postgraduate shall assist the VP/Campaigns with campaigns in relation to postgraduate issues.
5.12.3 The VP/Postgraduate shall be Chairperson of the Postgraduate Affairs Committee. with:
5.12.1 The Vice President for Postgraduate Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the VP/Postgraduate) shall be responsible for the Union’s work on policy and engagement with postgraduate students.
5.12.2 The VP/Postgraduate shall, in conjunction with the VP/Campaigns co-ordinate campaigns in relation to postgraduate issues that affect both taught and research postgraduates.
5.12.3 The VP/Postgraduate shall have primary responsibility for work in relation to the working conditions and labour rights of PhD researchers in Ireland, with consultation from external organisations where appropriate.

5.9.2 The VP BMW must make themselves available for campus visits at the request of Member Organisations where possible. The VP BMW must also maintain in contact with Member Organisations throughout their term.
5.9.3 The VP/BMW shall communicate the message of the Union to ordinary members, Member Organisations, external organisations and the public through various means including, but not exclusively, social media, traditional media, meetings, conference events, campaigns and training events and Updates to Member Organisations councils.
5.9.4 The VP/BMWshall communicate regional and Member Organisation’s issues to the Coiste Gnó and support MOs with internal issues relating to but not limited to, team disputes, relationship with their HEI, and student engagement.
5.9.5 The VP/BMW shall work with all Colleges in the BMW Region to develop their Unions focusing on Unions who have been suspended or where a College does not have a functional Union, to assist the students at that College to establish one.
5.9.6 The VP/BMW shall be responsible for

- Will assist MOs when requested in the run-up to or during campaigns, events,projects, initiatives and other related activities.
- Support MOs in their region with matters relating to political Action anddevelopment.

- To assist Member Organisations with Affiliations and partnership agreements.
